About Us

With the support from Myrtle Beach T.V.I,  Kyd Wilde, am able to keep you updated with the local politics and events in our local area.  I'm not claiming to be the expert on all things political, but lets just say I have a web page and I can at least act like I do!  Please do not consider this page just another blog site because that will simply dumb down the purpose behind what I'm doing.

You see, I believe that when it comes to our home town, we citizens have a moral obligation to stay educated and take part in all the policies that affect our town.  Whether we agree or disagree on laws being discussed, I can't express how important it is to stay active in your political system - at all levels of government; from the PTA, to the State House and all the way through to the White House.

With that said, please use this website as a means to express your opinions and ideas, about and for our local community.  E-mail me your opinions and concerns and I'll post them in the Local Talk section of this site, with the intent to create insightful debates and/or discussions.  Be open to everyones views and write your thoughts knowing that your grandmother will most likely read it.  Or in good ol' Southern words, write as if the good Lord Himself and all His Glory was actively visiting this site on a daily basis; however, not to doubt that He isn't already.

Why Am I Doing This?

I personally know men who have given their lives so that your freedom remains secure, and in that freedom, you may excercise your rights - to express yourself and hold those of whom you've elected to positions of authority accountable.  For me, it took the lives of four heros to understand why we must fight, why we must exercise our rights, and why America is so great.  I grew up quickly when the realities of war struck - in the form of a mortar; and the realization that someone wants me dead because I'm American.  What I brought back from the war was a completely different perception of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  I beseech you to take full advantage of American liberties, and do so knowing that countless patriots and heros have made the ultimate sacrifice for such freedoms...

Who Am I?

I am a local boy with the greatest of intentions.  I am Kyd Wilde.  Actually its my nom de plume derived from two nicknames given to me during my life time.  Surfside is where I lived while I was coming of age.  All the way up to high school, Surfside Beach was my home.

After graduating from Socastee High School in 1999, I left for Charleston, SC to attend the greatest military college in the nation, The Citadel.  I would graduate in 4 years time and by 2003, I commissioned into the Air Force and deployed during Operation Iraqi Freedom as a First Lieutenant with the 506 Air Expeditionary Force.  I was stationed at Kirkuk Regional Air Base, Iraq, where I was able to put many years of leadership trianing to the test.  After the AF, my wife, my son and I packed up and have since moved back into the Grand Strand area.

I worked in the local area for a lodging management firm as soon as I got back.  Adjusting  from the Military to the Civilian side of the house proved eye-opening.  In the military I felt I was making a difference in the world and for others less fortunate.  As a Lodging Manager (a position I held in the AF), I couldn't help but feel the complete opposite; it seemed my purpose was to make rich men richer - don't get me wrong, I do know the value of a dollar.  But after six months of hard work (60+ hours a week, minus the pay, double the responsibility, and no time for family), I began to wonder if I was serving my true purpose.

Additionally, it was heartbreaking to know that I was making $40K less than the national average for someone with my experience and education level.  Man, those guys at the NRA were right, because if I had a gun...Anyhow, suffice it to say, I was feeling incomplete.  And now, with the amazing support from Myrtle Beach T.V., I can now give back to my community and somehow make a difference for those in my town.

I'm a local boy with the greatest of intentions.  I am Kyd Wilde.
